This extra height will change the angle at which the pushrod passes through the cylinder head. The problem is greatest on small blocks due to their 59° lifter angle. Check for proper pushrod clearance BEFORE final assembly. We use masking tape on the pushrod to check for clearance. If the tape tears, it is too close. If it only polishes the tape, it is okay.
