Issue #5 What’s a Streetable Engine???
Customers write-in for a recommendation for a high-powered engine that is “streetable”.
What does that mean? What isn’t streetable? Have you seen the cars that run in HOTROD Drag week? They run in the 9s wheels up and they pull a trailer full of extra parts and slicks from strip to strip. Would you call those “vehicles” streetable? I guess you would have to, they do run on the street and pull a trailer yet!
In other words (EVERYTHING) could be considered streetable, even a top fuel dragster if it had mufflers and license. Don’t ask me what is streetable! That is like beauty, it is in the eye (in this case in the mind or pocketbook) of the beholder. Also, I doubt that any of the engines in drag week cost less than $12000.00. How many do you want? Money determines how much horsepower you get.
I lean more towards a stealth type setup, quiet, stock looking sleeper that will blow the doors off the ‘VETTE in the next lane.
