The "treated" iron gear is a lifetime gear that can be used with any cam, cast or billet. The shafts are made exclusively for us.  NOTE: If you have any residue from a bronze gear on your camshaft gear, it MUST be removed or else it will act like a lapping material and wipe out both gears! Can you say "I screwed up?" $$$ sure you can! Any new (or cleaned) cam - roller, billet, cast, flat tappet, or what have you...cleaned means no residue from the old gear.  This is a CAST CAM, you DO NOT need our gear or shaft: ^^^This is a BILLET CAM, you NEED a gear and shaft!^^^
